UK takes steps to simplify visa process for Chinese tourists

Spending by Chinese tourists in London's Luxury Quarter jumped 31% last year, with an average transaction of £1,656, but the UK only accounts for 7% of all Chinese visitors to Europe. Officials have taken steps to boost Chinese tourism with a pilot project aimed at making it easier to obtain a visa -- currently, the UK requires a separate, more costly visa than the Schengen visa that allows visitors to travel to 26 other European countries.
