Researchers estimate millions of years of healthy life lost to cancer

Worldwide, almost 170 million years of healthy life were lost because of cancer in 2008, International Agency for Research on Cancer researchers reported in The Lancet. Colorectal, lung, breast and prostate cancers were the main contributors to the total cancer burden.
