Food-safety workshop educates California farmers

The recent E. coli outbreak in the Salinas Valley in California has prompted the San Mateo County Farm Bureau and the county Health Department to hold a food-safety workshop. The workshop will educate local farmers about submitting to frequent audits by the USDA, monthly water irrigation testing, mandated fencing around fields and the distance requirement from nearby livestock.
