Groups urge senators not to include indirect land-use change in RFS

The Renewable Fuels Association and five other industry groups wrote a letter published in Agweek that called on senators to vote for an amendment to the fiscal 2010 Interior-Environment Appropriations bill. The amendment, introduced by Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, seeks to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from spending money to include international indirect land-use change emissions in the final rules for implementing the Renewable Fuel Standard program. The theory is "flawed and premature" and "is not equitably imposed on all energy producers," the letter said.
