Technological solutions can help ease global scarcity of water

Shortages in the world's water supply have led governments to adopt technologies that would help in conserving and using water efficiently. Some cities with aging infrastructure make use of software and sensors that detect leaks in water pipes. To extend the sources of water, some areas treat and recycle water for industrial and irrigation purposes, while some separate fresh water from sea water via desalination.
