Service-oriented architecture is shared goal of Pentagon, VA

The Veterans Affairs and Defense Departments have begun creating some of the shared components of a service-oriented architecture for an integrated EHR. "We've done the mapping of what the VA and DOD do, and we're so much alike, about 98 percent alike," said Mark Goodge, the Military Health System's chief technology officer. A common services broker will link tools and services, and allow data exchange between external and internal systems, VA CTO Peter Levin said.
