Weight-loss surgery shows health benefits for the whole family

Obese family members of patients who underwent weight-loss surgery lost an average of eight pounds in the year following the procedure, according to a study in the Archives of Surgery. Researchers also found that adult family members trimmed about 3 inches off their waistlines, while children of the weight-loss surgery patients tended to diet and prevent weight gain.
