Fla. board of education holds public hearings on common core

The Florida Board of Education is holding hearings on the Common Core State Standards to gather public input and create recommendations for the standards. These efforts come at a time when state lawmakers still are working out a plan for how to handle new state assessments. There is some indication that the new standards will not include the term "common core," although the state would follow common core guidelines to measure student success.
