La. parents press state for privacy act for student data

Parents with concerns about the type and amount of student data being collected in school districts are seeking a state education-information privacy act. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act already exists at the federal level, but the issue, supporters say, is data being collected by the district during online assessments aligned with the Common Core State Standards and shared with other agencies.
