Danone refocuses on functional nutrition

Groupe Danone's sale of its cookie division to Kraft Foods for $7.4 billion was perceived by analysts as the company's last major divestment before it ventures into functional health and nutrition. Danone purchased clinical nutrition company Royal Numico as part of its transformation into a company that caters to health-oriented markets. Meanwhile, the company saw growth in its fresh dairy product lines last year in countries such as Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.
