IDC Energy Insights predicts the rise of smart water

Technologies that help utilities and their customers boost efficiency and cut costs while focusing on environmental sustainability are not limited to the electric industry, according to a report that predicts "smart water" solutions spending will experience double-digit growth by 2016. IDC Energy Insights notes that much like their counterparts in the energy sector, water utilities will focus the bulk of their resources on automated monitoring solutions that help conserve water assets, as well as communications, data management, analytics technologies.
