Personal health records should be transparent so patients can understand the context of their physician visits and test results, said John Halamka, chief information officer at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, during the New England HIMSS Chapter Conference on HIT. Halamka recommends using Web sites that offer patients a clear look at their information and can replace phone calls and streamline office procedures.
