Distemper cases rise among raccoons in Minn.

A growing number of raccoons in Edina, Minn., have died after showing symptoms of distemper, prompting local officials to urge dog owners to make sure their pets are vaccinated against the disease. Cases among raccoon and gray fox populations are common, but there have been more than the usual number this fall, said state wildlife veterinarian Erika Butler.
