HHS on Thursday released the final regulations on accountable care organizations that will aid health care providers in delivering quality patient care and reducing costs. The agency lowered the number of quality measures for determining ACOs' performance bonuses from 65 to 33. "This model of delivering care may not be right for everyone, but it provides new incentives for doctors, hospitals and other health care providers to work together in new ways," HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said.
