CDC reports low influenza activity rate

Influenza activity remained low nationwide, for the week ending Oct. 12, according to the first report of the CDC since the government shutdown ended. Ten regions that are keeping track of the virus reported influenza-like illness below baseline levels, and the number of outpatient visits with flu-like illness in the country was only 1.1%. No pediatric flu deaths were reported, according to the CDC.
