CDC reports low influenza activity rate

Nationwide influenza activity stayed low for the week ending Oct. 12, according to the first report by the CDC since the end of the government shutdown. Ten regions that are keeping track of the virus reported flu-like illness below baseline levels, and only 1.1% of outpatient visits in the U.S. were for flu-like illness. No pediatric flu deaths were reported, according to the CDC.
