U.S. group to support GSK search for TB vaccine

The Maryland-based Aeras Global TB Vaccine Foundation, which has a $100 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop a tuberculosis vaccine useful in poor countries, plans to accelerate work on a promising vaccine by GlaxoSmithKline. Under the agreement, GSK would receive $13 million over the next two years and if the vaccine continues to show promise, the foundation would provide "much larger sums" to underwrite large-scale trials.
