Becker nomination to labor board could get OK and move to Senate

The business community, which has been against the Employee Free Choice Act, is focusing on the nomination of Craig Becker, a labor attorney for the Service Employees International Union and AFL-CIO, to the National Labor Relations Board. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, is expected to hold a vote today to move the nomination to the entire Senate. The EFCA has stalled in the Senate, but business groups say Becker would attempt to enact parts of the legislation through board rulings.
