District receives Gates foundation grant to study teaching

Florida's Hillsborough County schools will use a $2.2 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to study teaching and learning -- becoming the third of six school districts selected for Measures of Effective Teaching grants. Gates researchers hope to find the secret to effective teaching by observing teachers in the classroom, studying student test scores and taping teachers' lessons.
