A starship enterprise that is aimed at Mars exploration

NASA and DARPA are collaborating on a $1 million-plus "Hundred-Year Starship" for Mars exploration, and scientists envision it could lead to a potential planet-colonization effort. "It would really be little different from the first white settlers of the North American continent, who left Europe with little expectation of return," said Paul Davies, a cosmologist at Arizona State University's Beyond Center.
