Calif. community-college accreditor's request for support draws flak

The Accrediting Commission for Junior and Community Colleges is drawing more criticism after asking member schools for letters of support in order to continue accrediting California community colleges. The request comes as the group faces a U.S. Department of Education review that will determine whether it can keep its accrediting status for the state. A decision by the accrediting body this year could cause the City College of San Francisco to lose its accreditation.
