New food options often forget the fiber

The American Dietetic Association estimates only half of Americans eat the recommended daily 25 grams of fiber, and processed foods that contain refined wheat instead of whole grains are seen as part of the problem. Fiber helps promote regularity and can prevent cholesterol from being absorbed in the blood stream. To help boost fiber consumption, Sara Lee is selling whole-grain bread and New World Pasta is offering a fiber-enriched product.
