Task force encourages use of breast-feeding interventions

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force says medical providers, hospitals and health systems should encourage breast-feeding of infants. The task force evaluated more than 25 studies of breast-feeding interventions and found that coordinated interventions from pregnancy through birth and infancy -- especially those that include education and peer support -- can increase breast-feeding initiation, duration and exclusivity.
