Ill. university employees face felony theft charges in sale of scrap

An investigation into the suspected sale of scrap materials to fund a private bank account has resulted in charges against nine current and former employees of Northern Illinois University. Deposits into the "coffee fund" went toward staff parties and totaled at least $13,000 over the past six years, police said. One person facing charges had been a senior administrator, but resigned amid a misconduct investigation.
