2 fertilizer plants worth $3.6B planned for Ind., N.D.

Midwest Fertilizer Corp. plans to build a $2.1 billion fertilizer plant in Posey County, Ind. The project, which is slated to break ground by March 2014, will create 2,500 construction jobs during its three-year buildout. Meanwhile, Northern Plains Nitrogen plans to buy 320 acres outside Grand Forks, N.D., as the site for a $1.5 billion fertilizer plant. The company is aiming for a 2015 groundbreaking.
