Japan Tourism Authority to track tourists' locations through their phones

The Japanese government plans to collect location data from the cellphones of hundreds of thousands of tourists to gain insight on where they like to spend time. The tracking program will undergo testing at Mount Fuji. The Japan Tourism Authority says the program will not violate cellphone user privacy because it will collect only meta data that can't be used to personally identify anyone.
