VA aims to sequence veterans' exomes

The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded Claritas Genomics a $9 million contract to sequence veterans' exomes over the next year. Alvarez and Associates will provide technical support, and Lockheed Martin will support data security. The effort is in conjunction with the Million Veteran Program, which aims to combine information about the genetics, health, lifestyle and military exposure of 1 million veterans, along with genetic analysis, into a single database.
