Satellite operators are expected to move toward hybrid boxes

Set-top boxes that can decode both Web-based video or signals sent over separate networks will become the norm, especially in satellite homes, over the next several years, according to ABI Research. "Satellite operators are looking to Internet-enabled set-top boxes to deliver advanced services over-the-top (OTT) in regions with strong broadband penetration," said ABI senior analyst Sam Rosen.
