Stanford and Cornell universities are considered the schools to beat in Mayor Michael Bloomberg's competition to create a new applied sciences school in New York City. Each school has proposed a $1 billion long-term project and each has many green elements, including use of fuel cells and solar and geothermal power and some net-zero energy buildings.
