Artist creates living furniture using fungal spores and a 3D printer

An enterprising artist has teamed up with engineers at the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands to build a living, growing fungus chair using 3D printing technology. Eric Klarenbeek's "MyceliumChair" was constructed out of a material made from wet straw and mycelium spores, which then grow, taking in water and creating a strong and stable foundation.
