Simple interventions can improve children's activity levels during recess

Giving children sports equipment, encouragement to exercise, or making them stand between classes raised their level of vigorous activity during recess by as much as 40%, Australian researchers said. An intervention that mixed equipment and encouragement with standing during breaks yielded a 19% increase in vigorous exercise, according to the study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
