Texas judge switches political party over LGBT issues

Texas judge Carlo Key announced Monday via a campaign advertisement that he plans to leave the Republican Party and become a Democrat. Key, a Bexar County judge since 2010, based his decision on recent anti-LGBT statements from local and state officials such as San Antonio Councilwomen Elisa Chan. "For too long the Republican Party has been at war with itself," Key said. "Pragmatism and principle have been overtaken by pettiness and bigotry."
