CEO: Wal-Mart went "too far, too fast" with trendiness

Wal-Mart Stores will emphasize deep discounts on toys this holiday season, as it attempts to rebound from a disappointing September, in which same-store sales increased just 1%, CEO H. Lee Scott said in remarks to analysts. Scott also said the discounter "moved too far too fast" with the launch of its trendy clothing line, but that it was improving its image by being more environmentally conscious and via the introduction of its $4 generic-drug plan.
