The more women are portrayed as strong and influential people, and more media focus on women in powerful roles, the greater the chance of gender equality and equity, says actor Geena Davis, one of the many accomplished women interviewed in the film "Miss Representation." There must be more portrayals of empowered women to eliminate females' self-objectification that women can't be on equal footing with men in the workplace, the educational arena and in society itself, she says.
