Teacher-evaluation reform is under way in Wisconsin

Efforts to develop new methods for evaluating the effectiveness of teachers are under way in schools across Wisconsin, where a law limiting teachers' collective-bargaining rights will allow decisions about teacher tenure and firing to be based on factors other than seniority. Meanwhile, a state panel in the coming weeks is expected to release a new framework for evaluating teachers and principals that could be used to create a model system for schools across the state.
