OEMs work on connected cars that respond to traffic conditions

Automakers in Europe and the U.S. are teaming up with governments to advance technology designed to increase road safety by allowing cars to communicate with one another and traffic infrastructure such as stop lights. BMW is testing a vehicle in Germany that has the potential to automatically decelerate as it approaches a red light, and that alerts a driver of the presence of emergency vehicles.
