401(k) matching is making a comeback, survey finds

Many companies scaled back or did away with matching contributions for employees' 401(k) plans during the recession, but the trend has reversed and many firms are bringing them back, a Transamerica survey on retirement trends found. But the matches are different this time. Many of the new matching policies are structured to encourage workers to increase their own contributions in an effort to help them prepare for retirement.
