Court allows unlimited donations to group backing Lhota

A federal appeals court says donors to a political group that supports New York City mayoral candidate Joe Lhota don't have to abide by a state limit of $150,000 in political contributions in a single year. The ruling, which could be a precursor to a broader decision that overturns the law, allows donors to give as much money as they want to the organization backing Lhota.
