Gartner: Half of enterprises will use hybrid cloud by 2017

The need for scalable processing and flexible IT solutions will propel an increase in the number of large enterprises transitioning to hybrid cloud platforms over the next four years, according to Gartner, which says existing private cloud networks will be confined to specific use cases. Gartner forecasts that spending on cloud systems will account for the majority of overall IT spending, and cloud-based services will "foster an economy based on delivery and consumption of everything from storage to computation to video to finance deduction management," according to Chris Howard, research vice president.
