Kan. ethanol plant reopens under new owner

An ethanol production plant in Pratt, Kan., that was shut down for five years is back in business under new owner Scoular, a Nebraska-based grain-trading firm. Scoular acquired the 55 million-gallon-per-year plant and a nearby grain-storage facility in 2011. The plant's day-to-day operations and ethanol marketing will be handled by Pratt Energy, while Scoular will take charge of feedstock supply and sales of distillers grains.
