Running clubs help promote health in elementary schools

A growing number of schools in Maine are forming Girls on the Run clubs, in which third- through fifth-graders have time to exercise and discuss topics, such as being a good friend and empowering themselves and others. Officials say the club -- and its message -- is especially important in elementary schools because organized sports typically are not offered until middle or high school.
