Scientists discover blood-based gene signature to detect tuberculosis

Blood samples from patients with and without HIV could be screened for active tuberculosis using a gene expression signature, according to a study in the journal PLOS Medicine. Researchers created a disease risk score to differentiate active and latent tuberculosis from each other and from other conditions.
