Start of mandatory clearing may be delayed in Europe

The rollout of the European Market Infrastructure Regulation calls for the EU to implement mandatory clearing of standardized over-the-counter derivatives in mid-2014. However, the process of drafting and approving rules has some market participants now wondering whether that schedule will hold true; they fear the start date could be pushed back to 2015 or 2016 for some customers.
