In-home hot spots, femtocells emerge to erase cell phone dead spots

More customers will soon have access to technologies to improve their in-home cell reception. Sprint Nextel is testing its Airave femtocell system in Denver, Indianapolis and Nashville, Tenn., and plans to roll it out across the U.S. next year. T-Mobile USA's HotSpot@Home went live across the U.S. this summer and offers cell phone service over Wi-Fi connections. Additional equipment for each type of service is expected to hit the market in 2008.
