Tourism officials say visa rules are major challenge

Tough requirements for obtaining a visa is one of the biggest challenges faced by international destinations such as Las Vegas, according to tourism officials. Travelers from Brazil, China and other countries wait an average of three months or more for an interview at the American consulate to obtain a tourist visa, insiders said. The process is not only time consuming, but expensive and a deterrent to international travel. Rossi Ralenkotter, head of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority, said it is time to make the process easier.
