Lawmaker urges TSA to screen checked baggage

A House member this week urged the Transportation Security Administration to start screening checked bags for loaded firearms. Rep. Janice Hahn, D-Calif., said she was "disturbed" that checked luggage was not screened for firearms. "It is troubling enough that ten years after September 11, an undeclared, unsecured and loaded firearm escaped detection in baggage screening," Hahn said. The TSA's position is that loaded firearms in checked bags pose no risk.
