MIT highlights advances in renewable-energy technology

With wind energy leading the rise of global renewable-energy developments at 2% of total energy generated, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is touting several advances that improve renewable-energy generation. To increase wind energy's share in electrical output, MIT is researching optimal wind turbine designs and offshore-wind capture using floating structures. Other renewable-energy research areas include large-scale carbon-free energy sources and solar-energy improvements.
