Evolution battle spurs educational materials ban in Kansas

The National Academy of Sciences and the National Science Teachers Association said yesterday they won't let Kansas use their copyrighted science curriculum unless the state revises its draft science education standards, which call evolution a controversial theory. A spokesman for the Discovery Institute, a leader in the Intelligent Design movement, termed the groups' action an effort to censor scientific criticism of Darwinism.
