Aurora is close to starting Australia demo plant, eyes commercial facility

Aurora Algae expects to start operating a demonstration plant in Australia by the end of the year and start construction in 2012 on a commercial-scale facility, said CEO Greg Bafalis. Aurora is working to secure permits and land rights for the commercial site, which would be built close to the demonstration facility. Aurora's shift to algae production allows its to expand more rapidly than companies that are focused on developing biofuels, Bafalis said.
