Three of the most common hiring traps are hiring in a hurry, hiring the resume instead of the person and hiring based on a job description, according to recruiter Margaret Graziano. Picking the right person starts with benchmarking, she says. "The first step is creating the model of what right looks like," Graziano says. "Companies that take the time and effort to do so fully understand not only who they need, but why they need them."
